Getting started

What's switched on today

A few features are built but wait on another company's approval, a read from our lawyer or our email checks. Here's what that means for you.

Chiffchaff is in an invitation-only beta. Some features are finished in the app but can't reach the outside world until another company approves us. We'd rather tell you than have you guess.

Google

Google is still reviewing our access to Business Profiles. Until it says yes:

  • The Listing page shows a sample listing built from your location's details. Edits you make there are saved in Chiffchaff only and nothing is sent to Google.
  • Photos you add on the Listing page are fixed, checked and saved, but Upload to Google sends nothing yet: the photo shows "Waiting on Google access". See Add photos to your Google listing.
  • Booking, order, reservation and menu links you set on the Listing page (Crew and Group) are saved on the sample listing only, and nothing is sent to Google. See Booking, order and menu links.
  • Sold out today and Closed today on the dashboard don't change your Google hours yet: the card says "waiting on Google access". Your website note and held review requests still work. See Sold out or closed today.
  • Posting a reply straight to Google from the reviews inbox isn't switched on. You can draft and save the reply, then copy it into Google yourself.
  • We can't see whether Google published or rejected a reply yet, so the inbox doesn't show it and no corrected reply is drafted. See When Google doesn't publish a reply.
  • Holiday reminders, the monthly Google post and the profile items on your dashboard skip sample listings, so you won't get them yet.
  • The review backup and missing-review emails run on sample reviews, so they start watching your real reviews once Google says yes. See Your review backup and missing reviews.
  • Staff review stats and Did the change work? read the same sample reviews. Requests and the changes you log are real, but the reviews and ratings next to them only mean something once your real Google reviews come in.
  • Drafts also learn from your own replies on Google. Until Google says yes, those are the sample replies, so the replies you paste on the Reply voice page matter most. See Edit your reply voice.

Yelp

Yelp has to agree in writing before we can bring in Yelp reviews, and we've asked. Until it does, Yelp isn't part of any plan. A few businesses can try it in early access with sample Yelp reviews. See Yelp (early access).

Texts

US phone carriers have to approve business texting before any text goes out (this is called A2P 10DLC registration). Each business's texts are registered under its own name, with its own number, and there's no shared number to fall back on. You can already send us your details from Register for texting; we're still finishing our own setup with the carriers, and your registration goes to them once that's done. Until your registration is approved, text review requests wait in the queue and the Requests page shows a banner saying so. Email and QR code requests don't need it. See Register for texting.

Emails

Every email we send goes through Amazon's email service, and Amazon has to approve our account before real email goes out. That covers review request emails and the emails we send you, like new-review alerts, the daily digest and the monthly recap. Team invites come from our sign-in service, so they already work.

Review request emails also wait on our final email checks. If they aren't on for you yet, the Requests page and each customer's page say so, and queued emails wait until they are.

Review request page

The page customers see when they open a request or scan your QR code (your Google review link first, with a private note to you below it) is switched on once our lawyer has read its wording. Until then, requests and QR codes open your Google review form directly, and Private notes stays empty. See Private notes and the page your link opens.

Comparing with nearby businesses

Duo, Crew and Group can compare their Google numbers with nearby businesses. That's switched on once our lawyer has checked Google's terms for keeping those numbers. Until then the Listing page says it isn't available yet. See Compare with nearby businesses.

Google Maps rank

Every plan tracks where you show on Google Maps for a few searches. The checks come from our data provider, DataForSEO, and we're still setting up that account. Until it's switched on, the Listing page shows sample ranks, labelled as samples, so you can pick your searches and see how the map works. Your monthly recap leaves samples out. See Google Maps rank.

Facebook

Facebook hasn't approved our access to Pages yet. Until it does, Connect sample Pages in Settings → Integrations makes a sample Page for each location, and Update Facebook on the Listing page changes the sample only. Nothing is read from or sent to Facebook. Facebook reviews won't come in either way: Facebook doesn't let new apps read them. See Connect your Facebook page.

Square

We're still setting up our Square app. Until it's ready, Connect a sample Square account in Settings → Integrations makes a sample Square location for each of yours, so you can set the delay and the locations, and Send a sample sale shows a request queued for a made-up customer. Nothing is read from Square and nothing is sent to anyone. See Ask for reviews after Square payments. Zapier works with Square in the meantime.

Zapier

The Chiffchaff app on Zapier isn't listed publicly yet. Beta businesses get an invite link from us. See Send requests automatically with Zapier.

Claude and ChatGPT

Chiffchaff isn't listed in Claude's connector directory or ChatGPT's app directory yet. You can still connect either one by its address from Settings → Integrations. See Connect Claude or ChatGPT.

Each of these screens explains its own state, so if something looks paused, the page usually says why. If it doesn't, email us at support@getblythe.com.
