Yelp (early access)

We've built a way to bring Yelp reviews into the inbox and check that your Yelp listing matches your details, but it isn't switched on. Yelp has to agree in writing before a product like Chiffchaff can use its reviews, and we've asked. It isn't part of any plan, and we can't say yet whether or when it will be.

Until Yelp answers, a few businesses can try it in early access with sample Yelp reviews and a sample listing check. Nothing is read from Yelp. If you'd like to try it, ask us. If you don't see a Yelp card in Settings → Integrations, it isn't on for you.

We never ask your customers for Yelp reviews. Yelp doesn't allow businesses to ask, so review requests only ever point to Google.

Connect a location

1. On the Yelp card in Settings → Integrations, click Find on Yelp next to the location.
2. We look for your listing using the location's name, address and phone. Click This is mine next to the right one.
3. If it isn't there, or your location's address isn't written as street, city and state, paste the link to your Yelp page instead (it looks like yelp.com/biz/your-business) and click Connect.

Owners and managers can connect and unlink Yelp. Reviews show in the inbox in a minute or two, and we check again every 8 hours.

What you'd see from Yelp

We show the Yelp reviews Yelp shares with us. That's a short excerpt of up to 3 reviews per location, and Yelp picks which ones. Each has a Read the full review on Yelp link.

Yelp's rules only let us keep its reviews for a day, so a review leaves your inbox once Yelp stops sharing it with us. Replies you posted stay on Yelp.

Replying to a Yelp review

Yelp doesn't let other apps post replies, and its rules don't let us send Yelp reviews to AI, so you write these replies yourself:

1. Open the review and click Write your reply.
2. When it reads right, click Copy reply and open Yelp. We copy your reply and open the review on Yelp.
3. Paste it on Yelp and post it there.
4. Back in Chiffchaff, click Mark posted. If you didn't get to it, click Not yet and come back later.

The same rules apply as for any reply: no refunds, discounts or freebies in public, no promises, no personal details and no admitting fault.

Your Yelp listing

The Listing page has an On Yelp card for each connected location. Once a day we compare Yelp's name, address and phone with your location's details, and Yelp's hours with your Google hours. Small differences like "St." and "Street" don't count.

When something differs, the card shows your version and a Fix in Yelp for Business link. Yelp doesn't let other apps change a listing, so you make the change there. We don't keep a copy of your Yelp listing (Yelp's rules again), so open Yelp to see its version.

Unlink a location

Click Unlink next to the location on the Yelp card. Its Yelp reviews leave your inbox right away and we stop checking its listing.

Yelp reviews don't show in your website widget.
