Setting up your business

After you sign up, Chiffchaff walks you through six short steps. The first two are needed; the rest you can skip and do later.

The steps

1. Business type. Bakery and café, barbershop and salon, home services, or another local business. It sets the wording and which review sites come first. See Your business type.
2. Business name. Use the name on your Google listing. This creates your business and its first location.
3. Locations. Add your other locations, if you have any. Your plan sets how many: Solo, Duo and Crew include 1, and so does the free trial. Group includes 3, and you can add more on Billing. See Locations and Extra locations.
4. Google. Connect your Google Business Profile so your reviews come in, then match each location to its Google listing. See Connect your Google Business Profile.
5. Invite your team. Invite the people who help with reviews by email, as a manager or staff. Working on your own? Skip it. See Team and roles.
6. Send yourself a test request. Get the request your customers get and walk through the page it links to. Tests don't count anywhere. See Send yourself a test request.

Each step has a help link under it that opens the article about that step in a new tab, so you don't lose your place.

Click Finish onboarding on the last step to go to your dashboard, whether or not you sent a test.

Moving from another tool? The last step also has Finish and import a list. It finishes setup and opens Settings → Import a list, where you upload the customer list you exported from your old tool, or any spreadsheet of your regulars. See Import customers. Skipping and coming back

Steps 3 to 5 have a Skip for now button. Everything you skip can be done later: locations in Locations, Google in Settings → Integrations, the team in Settings → Team, and a test request on Requests. Your setup checklist on the dashboard shows what's left.

Chiffchaff saves your place after each step. Click Save and sign out at the top to stop, and you'll come back to the next step when you sign in. Connecting Google takes you to Google and back; you return to the Google step with your connection in place.
