Your trial, and coming back after cancelling
How the free trial works, what happens when it ends, reactivating a cancelled plan, and failed payments.
The free trial
Every business starts with a 14-day free trial, with no card needed. During the trial you can use Chiffchaff with Crew's limits and features, so you can try Google posts, the monthly post and more than one team member before you pick a plan. Your dashboard shows how many days are left, and so does Billing.
Two things are different during the trial. Texts stop at 200 for the whole trial. And texts only start once your business's own texting registration is approved by the phone carriers, which can take one to three weeks; until then, send requests by email or QR code, which work from day one.
You can choose a plan any time during the trial. You won't be charged until the trial ends, and from then on you get that plan's limits.
When the trial ends
If the trial ends without a plan, your account becomes read-only. You can still see your reviews, customers and settings, but you can't send requests, draft replies or change settings. Nothing is deleted. A banner on every page links to Billing, and choosing a plan turns everything back on.
If you cancel
Cancelling, on Billing or in the billing portal, ends your plan at the end of the period you've paid for. Until then, every page shows when your plan ends. See Pause or cancel your plan.
Changed your mind? An owner or manager can click Keep my plan on that banner or on Billing. Your plan renews as usual and nothing is charged that day.
After the plan has ended, there's nothing to reactivate. The account is read-only, as after a trial, and your data is still there. Choose a plan on Billing to start again.
If a payment doesn't go through
You'll see Your last payment didn't go through on every page, and the owner and anyone who can manage billing get an email. Everything keeps working while Stripe tries again. Click Update payment method to add a new card, and the banner clears once a payment succeeds.
If every retry fails, the subscription ends and the account becomes read-only until a plan is chosen again.
