Holiday hours reminders

Get a reminder before each holiday to tell Google whether you're open, and set it with one tap.

People check Google to see if you're open on a holiday. Chiffchaff reminds you before each one, so your listing isn't wrong on the day.

The reminder

Before a US holiday that has no holiday hours on Google, owners and managers get an email asking whether you're open. The holidays covered are New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Eve.

The email has Closed, Usual hours and Set other hours links. They open the Listing page, and nothing changes until you confirm there.

The holiday also shows in Needs attention on your dashboard as Set hours for the holiday.

Set the hours

On the Listing page, the holiday hours card has:

  • Closed: you're shut that day.
  • Usual hours: you're open your normal hours for that weekday. This doesn't work if your usual hours that day include a break, or if you haven't set opening hours.
  • Set hours: choose different times.

You can also add any other date, such as a staff training day, with + Another date.

Change the reminders

Owners and managers can change these in Settings → All settings → Listings & social:

  • Holiday hours reminders: on or off.
  • Remind me this many days ahead: 7, 14, 21 or 30 days. The default is 14.

Reminders are on every plan.
