Keep Yelp and Nextdoor up to date

Copy each location's details into Yelp and Nextdoor in the format each site asks for, then mark it done. We remind you every 90 days.

Customers look you up on Yelp and Nextdoor too, and wrong hours or an old phone number there cost you visits. Neither site lets apps change a listing, so Chiffchaff can't update them for you. What it can do is put your details in front of you the way each site's form wants them, so updating takes a few minutes.

This is on every plan. It's about your business details only: Chiffchaff doesn't read or reply to Yelp or Nextdoor reviews.

Update a site

  1. Go to Listing. With more than one location, pick the location at the top.
  2. Scroll to Keep Yelp and Nextdoor up to date.
  3. Click Open Yelp for Business or Open Nextdoor Business. The site opens in a window beside Chiffchaff. Sign in and go to your business details.
  4. Click Copy next to each field and paste it into the site's form. Yelp has separate boxes for street, city, state and ZIP, so each part has its own Copy. Hours are listed day by day in each site's own format.
  5. Save on the site, then click Mark done in Chiffchaff. It shows the date you marked it.

If your browser blocks the window, the site opens in a new tab instead.

Where the details come from

  • Business name, address and phone come from the location in Locations. Change them there.
  • Website and hours come from your Google listing, since Chiffchaff doesn't keep those itself. Until we've read your Google listing, they show as missing. See Edit your Google profile.

Each field says where it came from.

Reminders

Your dashboard's Needs attention shows Update Yelp and Nextdoor for a location when:

  • you haven't marked a site done yet;
  • it's been 90 days since you marked it done; or
  • the location's details, or your Google website or hours, changed since you marked it done.

Marking a site done clears it until the next time. Only owners and managers can mark it done and see the reminder. To turn the reminder off for every location, go to Settings → All settings → Listings & social and switch off Remind me to update Yelp and Nextdoor.

The profile checklist on the Listing page has a line for Yelp and Nextdoor too. It doesn't count towards your profile score: we can't see either site, so "done" only means you told us, and the score stays a measure of the Google listing we read.

Not on Yelp or Nextdoor

If a location isn't on one of the sites, click I'm not on Yelp or I'm not on Nextdoor in that site's column. The site folds down to one line, never shows as due, and drops out of the dashboard reminder and the checklist line for that location. The other site carries on as before.

Changed your mind? Click Undo and the site comes back as it was, including the date you last marked it done. Marking a site done also undoes it. Only owners and managers can do either.

Why we can't do it for you

Yelp's API can read a listing but not change it, and Nextdoor has no API for business details. Both sites also stop their pages from showing inside another app, which is why they open in their own window. We don't sign in to either site on your behalf.
