Send requests to a list
Upload a spreadsheet of recent customers and send each one a review request, with a preview before anything goes.
Send to a list sends review requests to everyone in a spreadsheet, such as this week's jobs or appointments. Owners and managers can use it.
Send
- Go to Requests and click Send to a list.
- Upload a .csv, .xlsx or .xls file with up to 1,000 rows. Chiffchaff doesn't keep the file.
- Match your columns: First name, Last name, Email, Phone, and optionally Visit or job ID. With more than one location, add Location name. Once you have people in Settings → Team, you can also match Served by.
- Click Preview. Each row shows who it sends to and what happens, and who it records as Served by.
- Click Send to queue the requests. Nothing is sent until you do.
How each row is handled
- Email is tried first. A text goes only when there's no usable email and the customer has already agreed to texts.
- People already in your customers are matched by email, then phone. New people are added to your customers.
- Sending to a list never marks anyone as agreeing to texts. To record consent, use Import customers or the customer's page.
- A Visit or job ID stops the same visit being asked about twice if you upload the file again.
- Served by records who served the customer, for your Staff review stats. It must match a name in Settings → Team: the full name, or a first name only one person has. Anything else shows as "Not recorded" in the preview, and the row is still sent. Customers never see it, and it never changes who is asked.
Long lists go out over several days
Google can pause new reviews on a profile that suddenly gets a lot of them, so a long list doesn't all go out at once. Each location sends up to 50 requests a day, or twice its usual daily number if that's more (never more than 200). A list uses three quarters of that, and the rest of the list waits for the following days in file order. The other quarter is kept for visits as they happen, so customers you ask from their page or through Zapier still get their request on the day you ask. A new business sending 500 requests sees them go out over 14 days (37 a day). After you click Send, Chiffchaff tells you how many days the list is spread over and when the last ones go out, for example "800 queued, spread over 22 days". Nobody is skipped because of this, and you can cancel any of them on the Requests page while they wait.
Rows that are skipped
The preview tells you why a row won't send, for example:
- No email or phone, or one that isn't valid.
- Asked in the last 90 days.
- Unsubscribed from your emails, or replied STOP to texts.
- No consent to texts, and no email.
- No postal address for the email.
- This month's texts are used up.
The usual rules apply to every request. See Ask a customer for a review.
