Privacy basics

What we keep about your customers, how consent and unsubscribes work, and who can see what.

Chiffchaff holds your customers' details so you can ask them for reviews. Here's the short version. The full detail is in our privacy policy and security overview.

What we keep about customers

For each customer: their name, phone number, email, last visit date, where the record came from, and whether they've agreed to texts or emails. When consent changes, we keep a history of who recorded it, when and how.

  • Texts go only to customers you've marked as agreeing. Anyone can reply STOP to stop texts. See Texting needs consent.
  • Emails each carry an Unsubscribe link. One click stops that business's review request emails to that address, straight away.
  • Every customer gets the same public review link. Nobody is offered anything for a review, and nobody is steered away from posting one.

What we don't do

  • We don't sell your customers' details, and we don't share their phone numbers or text consent with anyone for marketing.
  • Customers' names, phone numbers and emails are kept out of our error reports, analytics and logs.
  • The QR code counts scans but never records who scanned.

Who can see what

Everyone on your team can see your reviews and customers. On the Group plan you can limit someone to some locations, and then they only see those. Private notes from customers go to owners and managers, not staff (on Group, the owner can change that for each person). Only the owner can download or delete the business's data. See Team and roles.

Settings → Activity shows the last 50 changes made in your account: who changed what, and when. Someone limited to some locations sees only their own changes there. If our support team ever views your account to help you, their changes are marked there too.

Your customers' requests

If a customer asks you what you hold about them, or asks you to delete it, you can edit their details on their customer page, or select them on Customers and click Delete selected. For anything else, email support@getblythe.com.
